Delicious Chicken Karahi Recipe

Chicken Karahi is a popular Pakistani and North Indian dish known for its rich flavors and spicy taste. Here’s a recipe for Chicken Karahi:

Ingredients:

– 500 grams bone-in chicken pieces

– 3 tablespoons oil or ghee

– 2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped

– 2 tomatoes, finely chopped

Chicken Karahi

– 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise

– 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

– 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to your spice preference)

– 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

– 1 teaspoon coriander powder

– 1/2 teaspoon garam masala

– Salt to taste

– Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

1. Heat oil or ghee in a large pan or karahi over medium heat.

2. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

3. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.

5. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook on medium-high heat until they are lightly browned. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

6. Reduce the heat to low and add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well, making sure the chicken is coated with the spices.

7. Cover the pan and let the chicken cook on low heat for about 15-20 minutes or until it is tender and cooked through.

8. Once the chicken is cooked, add chopped tomatoes and slit green chilies. Increase the heat to medium and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the tomatoes soften and release their juices.

9. Sprinkle garam masala over the chicken and mix well.

10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

11. Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice.

Note: You can adjust the spice level according to your preference by increasing or reducing the amount of red chili powder and green chilies. Additionally, you can add a squeeze of lemon juice for a tangy flavor if desired.
