Pizza Napoletana with Garlic Sauce Recipe:

Ingredients:

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Extra flour for dusting

For the Garlic Sauce:

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For Toppings:

  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Optional: Cherry tomatoes, sliced

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pizza Dough:

  • In a bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

2. Make the Garlic Sauce:

  • In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Season with salt and black pepper. Set aside.

3. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to the highest temperature (usually around 500°F/260°C) with a pizza stone if available.

4. Roll Out the Dough:

  • On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness.

5. Assemble the Pizza:

  • Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet.
  • Spread the garlic sauce evenly over the dough.
  • Add fresh mozzarella slices, grated Parmesan, and cherry tomatoes if using.

6. Bake:

  • If using a pizza stone, transfer the pizza onto the preheated stone in the oven. If not using a stone, bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7. Garnish and Serve:

  • Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle fresh basil leaves over the top.
  • Slice and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality, fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
  • You can customize the toppings based on your preferences.
