Grilled Turkey with Flavorful Rice: A Delicious Main Course Recipe

Here’s a recipe for Grilled Turkey with Rice:

Ingredients:

For the Grilled Turkey:

  • 1 whole turkey (about 12-14 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Rice:

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

For the Grilled Turkey:

Preheat the Grill:

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 350-375°F (175-190°C).

Prepare the Turkey:

  • Rinse and pat dry the turkey. Remove any giblets from the cavity.

Make the Herb Butter:

  • In a bowl, combine the softened butter, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Season and Butter the Turkey:

  • Gently separate the skin from the turkey breast, being careful not to tear it. Spread the herb butter mixture evenly under the skin. Rub any remaining butter mixture over the outside of the turkey.

Grill the Turkey:

  • Place the turkey on the grill, breast side up. Close the lid and cook for about 2-2.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the breast and 175°F (80°C) in the thigh.

Rest and Carve:

  • Allow the turkey to rest for about 20-30 minutes before carving.

For the Rice:

Rinse the Rice:

  • Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

Saute Vegetables:

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion, celery, carrots, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

Add Rice and Broth:

  • Stir in the rice and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Add the chicken broth and bring to a boil.

Simmer and Cook:

  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

Fluff and Serve:

  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the grilled turkey alongside the flavorful rice for a delicious and satisfying meal. Enjoy!
