Homemade Garlic Sauce and Tomato Sauce: Recipes and Tips for Flavorful Sauces

Both garlic sauce and tomato sauce can be made at home using simple ingredients. Here’s how you can prepare these two sauces:

Garlic Sauce

Ingredients:

  • Garlic cloves: 4-6 cloves, peeled and minced
  • Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
  • Greek yogurt or sour cream: 1/4 cup (60 ml)
  • Lemon juice: 1-2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper: To taste
  • Optional herbs: Chopped parsley, dill, or chives for added flavor

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the garlic: Peel and mince the garlic cloves. If you prefer a milder garlic flavor, you can blanch the garlic before mincing.

  • Fresh basil or dried oregano: To taste (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the onions and garlic: In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute.
  2. Add tomatoes: Add the chopped tomatoes (or crushed tomatoes) to the saucepan.
  3. Cook and simmer: Add the tomato paste and stir to combine. Season with salt and black pepper, and sugar if using.
  4. Simmer: Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
