Peas and Mutton Curry Masala Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 500g mutton, washed and cut into pieces
- 1 cup green peas, fresh or frozen
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt to taste
For the Masala Paste:
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 4-5 green chilies, chopped
- 1-inch ginger, chopped
- 4-5 garlic cloves
Instructions:
- Prepare the Masala Paste:
- In a blender, combine coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, green chilies, ginger, and garlic. Blend into a smooth paste by adding a little water if needed.
- Marinate the Mutton:
- In a bowl, mix the mutton pieces with half of the masala paste and yogurt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Cooking the Curry:
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the remaining masala paste and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the raw aroma disappears.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add marinated mutton and cook until it is browned on all sides.
- Pour in enough water to cover the mutton, cover the pot, and simmer until the mutton is tender (this may take about 1-1.5 hours, depending on the meat).
- Add Peas:
- Once the mutton is almost tender, add green peas to the curry. Cook until the peas are cooked and the mutton is tender.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Adjust salt and spice levels according to taste.
- Serve:
- Serve the peas and mutton curry masala hot with steamed rice or Indian bread of your choice.
